Barbados/UK: Mount Gay launches new rum

03 August, 2010

Mount Gay rum has launched a new 'rare cask selection', called 1703.

Distributed by First Drinks in the UK, 1703 is described as ‘super premium’. It is blended from rums aged between 10 and 30 years and will be available in high-end on and off-trade outlets from August with a RRP of £125.

On-trade accounts include Movida, Mahiki, Cavendish No.5, The Ritz and The Dorchester. Off-trade outlets include Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.

Kathy Roe, senior brand manager for Mount Gay rum in the UK, said: “We expect 1703 Rare Cask Selection to prove popular with discerning consumers who appreciate the finest quality spirits. The launch of this super premium variant in the UK will serve to showcase the quality of Mount Gay rum’s award-winning range of rums.”

The rum takes its name from the year the distillery was founded.
