Diageo has proposed a redevelopment of the Talisker distillery, which will see the previous facilities demolished if plans are approved.

Talisker Distillery has announced the opening of a new visitor experience on the Isle of Skye set to open on 5 August.

The Hebridean Whisky Trail has been formed on the Scottish islands of Skye, Raasay and Harris.

A scotch whisky distiller, when asked recently if he made any blends, was gloriously sniffy and dismissive of blended whisky. It would have been interesting to see and hear what he would have made of the Johnnie Walker Directors Blends, which I got to taste last Thursday (November 28) in London.

You don’t often go to a whisky tasting and get given raspberry sorbet, half way through.  Sniffing strawberry and getting a vanilla stick stuck up your nose, isn’t common either.

The winner of the London heat of the Lillet Twisted Vesper Cocktail Competition, which was held at Bar Américain, Brasserie Zédel yesterday (May 8), was Calum Anderson from The Kenilworth Hotel, Kenilworth, Warwickshire with his cocktail 'Rhuby Summers'.

Diageo has launched its second new expression of Talisker whisky this year. Port Ruighe follows Storm, which was launched in March.

Diageo has invested £1 million in a visitor centre at its Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye.
