Tennent's launches new can design

08 May, 2018

Scottish beer brand, Tennent’s Lager, has launched a new can design to hit shelves in May, inspired by the appearance of a pint of lager.

Still produced at Wellpark Brewery using 100% Scottish barley, Herkules hops and fresh highland water from Loch Katrine, Tennent’s has consistently been Scotland’s top-selling beer since it was first brewed, more than 130 years ago.

Rhona Fyfe, brand manager at Tennent’s Lager, said: “For drinkers in Scotland and abroad a pint of Tennent’s Lager is truly iconic, and we’re taking that image as the inspiration for our new cans.

“We pride ourselves on brewing at Wellpark, using the finest quality ingredients as founder Hugh Tennent created over 130 years-ago. This story now takes pride of place on the can, highlighting the history, quality and provenance of the liquid inside.”

This summer, Tennent’s will also support the off-trade, rolling out new units including a 5L mini-keg and 6x330ml fridge pack.

The new can design will be available in the off-trade from May in 330ml, 440ml, 500ml and 568ml can formats.

I know how wierd this might seem but I often think that the opening of a new distillery is like the launch of a new submarine. It is unveiled in all its pristine glory in a blaze of publicity and fanfare.
