Former Artesian bartenders launch P(OUR)

29 April, 2016

Former Artesian bartenders Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale have announced the launch of P(OUR), a foundation to build a holistic community for the global drinks industry.

Joined by Jim Meehan, Ryan Chetiyawardana, Xavier Padovani, Monica Berg and Joerg Meyer, the group are to utilise the expertise of baristas, sommeliers, brewers, distillers and winemakers.

Alex Kratena said: “We hope P(OUR) grows into a community that gives our audience an opportunity to learn, engage, share and discuss. In building this platform, we’re addressing our shared responsibilities to support bartenders all over the world. Operating with financial transparency will avoid any hidden agendas and ensure that our mission of sharing a thirst for knowledge can remain pure, and our ultimate focus.”

The collective will meet each year for a symposium featuring a series of talks by some of the world’s most influential bartenders, thinkers and drinks professionals. The first P(OUR) Symposium will take place on June 19-20 2016 in Paris.

The P(OUR) website, www.pourdrink.org, will launch May 11 2016.

Sustainability: No more excuses

COP26 littered newspaper headlines throughout November. The focus was supposed to be on resolving the climate change crisis, but predictably turned into a game of political chess. In the absence of any authoritative leadership, our industry needs to set an example.
