The first Mauritius Rum Festival will take place later this month with the aim of promoting the Mauritian rum industry globally.

Running from August 23-24th at the Mauritius’ Sugar Beach Hotel, local events company Enterprise Mauritius has recruited global rum ambassador and UK RumFest  organiser Ian Burrell.

The Rum Fair, which takes place on the first day of the two-day event, is dedicated to industry professionals.

It will include presentations from industry experts such as Robert Burr, blind tasting competitions and master classes run by Ian Burrell, bartender competitions and an exhibition of local rums.

The Mauritius Rum Festival’s doors will be opened to locals and tourists on day two.

Taking place at Clos St Louis, Domaine Les Pailles, the local rum manufactures will showcase their products, while Burr and Burrell will again be guest speakers.
