Polo gets Royal Salute in India

28 October, 2009

Chivas Brothers' Royal Salute scotch whisky has signed a polo sponsorship deal in India.

The Royal Salute Maharaja of Jodhpur Golden Jubilee Cup event in India will take place from 26-30 December and build on the success of the Royal Salute Gold Cup, a tournament held annually in October at the Nine Dragons Hill Polo Club in Shanghai, China.

The brand is also looking into further international opportunities to support the sport.

Neil Macdonald, brand director for Royal Salute, said: “Polo is known as the king of sports and the sport of kings, so there is a natural and strong affinity between the world’s leading luxury whisky brand and this regal sport. As part of Royal Salute’s growing international appeal, we are building links with distinctive and luxurious polo gatherings around the world in some of the most iconic destinations.

“India is one of our most important potential markets and we’re honoured to be working with the Maharaja of Jodhpur and his team on such an important event.”
