Travel Retail Challenge winners announced

John Dewar & Sons Fine Scotch Whisky Emporium Frankfurt Airport and Martell Cordon Bleu Intense Heat were named Supreme Champions at Drinks International’s 11th annual Travel Retail Challenge last night.

A total of seven operator and nine supplier awards were handed out at Hotel Majestic, Cannes.

The Travel Retail Awards were launched 11 years ago to recognise and highlight the importance of alcoholic drinks within the global travel retail sector. The competition is founded on a rigorous and independent judging process, receiving many entries. It is supported by many of the world's leading drinks producers and global travel retailers and operators who regard it as the leading drinks event that celebrates quality and excellence.

Winning an award is an impressive achievement for any drinks brand that passes the tough assessment from the experienced panel of specialist travel retail judges.

In the suppliers awards the key winners were Jagermeister Manifest for Drinks Launch of The Year; GB Extra Dry Gin with Travel Retail Exclusive of the Year; Glenfiddich Cask Collection for Packaging Design of the Year and Centre Vinicole Champagne, Nicolas Feuillatte Travel Bag were named Presentation Box of the Year.

Le Clos were awarded the Airport Drinks Retailer of the Year. P&O Ferries claimed the award for Ferry/ Cruise Line Drinks Retail of the Year for the second year running. In-flight Drinks Retailer of the Year went to Gate Retail. Delhi Duty Free - Whisky Luxe, The Luxury Whisky Festival was awarded the Marketing Concept of the Year title.

Drinks International’s publisher Justin Smith said: “This year’s judging was tougher than ever before with consistent quality found across each category in both our operator and supplier awards. This year’s judging was a challenging day of discussion, deliberation and decisions as our expert panel drew up shortlists in each of the 14 categories.”
