Lindeman's launches NZ Sauvignon Blanc

28 October, 2011

Lindeman’s has added a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to its international Winemaker’s Discovery range. It's a UK launch, initially, but is expected to roll out across Europe.

The wine is made from grapes from Marlborough’s Wairau and Awatere valleys and is priced at £6.99.

The launch aims to take advantage of New Zealand’s growth in the UK market – value sales grew 10.6%, with Sauvignon Blanc accounting for 84% of that growth – adding £3.6 million to the category, according to Treasury Wine Estates.

Senior brand manager Rebecca Haigh said: “Having successfully launched wines from both Chile and South Africa, we know that consumers trust the consistent Lindeman’s winemaking style to deliver high quality wines whatever the country of origin. With New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc becoming an increasingly popular choice for many consumers over the past year, this is the perfect time to introduce New Zealand to the Winemaker’s Discovery range.

“The range provides retailers with a fantastic chance to expand their range of countries of origin, while offering consumers the reassurance of a top-selling brand. Lindeman’s New Zealand is set to attract a new set of consumers to a category which has seen extensive growth. Retailers should be sure to stock up and take this fantastic chance to help their customers expand their wine repertoire.”
