Ian Macleod Distillers sets travel retail record

11 August, 2011

Malaysia: Ian Macleod Distillers has set a new sales record for the company and the Malaysian Travel Retail industry.

The distiller sold a bottle of 40 Years Old Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky for RM16,500 (approx. US$5,500) and according to the distiller, this is the fastest time an alcoholic product valued above RM10,000 has sold in any Malaysian airport, including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Andy Lane, Ian Macleod Distillers’ director of Travel Retail said: “We are delighted to have achieved this new benchmark for the ultra-premium market. Nobody has sold a similarly priced whisky in such a short time within Malaysia. I am proud of it!”
