UK importer PLB has been appointed by Rioja winery Bodegas Navajas, with effect from March this year.

Located in the town of Navarrete in La Rioja, and headed by Antonio Navajas, the family wine business produces 1.6 million bottles annually.

PLB's wholesale division will distribute Navajas wines to independent retail and on-trade customers.

The range to be distributed, consists of Rioja Joven and Rioja Crianza - Navajas's two biggest sellers - Rioja Reserva, Gran Reserva, and a selection of white and rosé styles.

PLB's buying director for Europe, Nick Tatham said: "Spain is performing extremely well in the UK and we see this appointment as a great opportunity.

"We are excited about developing and growing Navajas's position within the UK on-trade and speciality retail sectors."
