William Grant appoints Stolichnaya vodka boss

21 July, 2009

William Grant & Sons has appointed a commercial director for Stolichnaya vodka.

The family-owned global spirits business has appointed Jonathan Ashworth to the role, following the multi-market distribution deal the company signed with Stolichnaya owners SPI last year.

Ashworth joins from the Stolichnaya brand organisation, formerly part of the Pernod Ricard Group, where he was the regional director for rest of world, including Latin America, Gulf, South East Asia and Australasia. He will report to William Grant & Sons’ newly appointed group marketing director Maurice Doyle, who joins the company in August.

William Grant & Sons’ chief executive Roland van Bommel said:  “With his commercial and marketing experience and extensive knowledge of the Stolichnaya brand and global operation, Jonathan will play a key role in delivering our ambitious growth targets for Stoli in the key markets where we distribute the brand.”

Ashworth previously worked at Allied Domecq duty free as marketing director global duty free and, before that, as group marketing manager for Allied’s UK Spirits and Wine division.

William Grant & Sons now distributes the Stolichnaya brand in the US, its largest market where it sells 2.3 million cases, as well as in selected markets in Europe and Asia Pacific including Portugal, The Netherlands, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea.
