UK: Drinkaware appoints new chief executive

23 October, 2012

UK alcohol charity Drinkaware has appointed Elaine Hindal as its new chief executive. She succeeds Chris Sorek, who returned to the US earlier in the year. Hindal is to take up the post in January 2013.

She joins from The Children’s Society where she has been director of advocacy and communication since 2009. Prior to that, Hindal held senior positions at Nokia, Cadbury Schweppes and The Coca–Cola Company.

Hindal will join as Drinkaware unveils its strategy for the next phase of its ‘life’ - to be launched in the first quarter of 2013.

Hindal says: “I am thrilled to be joining Drinkaware at this time, and by the opportunity to lead the organisation through the next phase of its strategic development, which will continue to build Drinkaware as an independent and authoritative contributor to the complex issue of alcohol harm.”
