Messe Düsseldorf, organisers of ProWein and ProWine China/Asia, have announced a new global head wine and spirits of ProWein.

Bastion Mingers takes over from Marius Berlemann, who will become the general manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co Ltd. with project and HR responsibility for Messe Düsseldorf’s entire Chinese portfolio.

It allows Berlemann to remain closely involved with ProWine China and ProWine Asia (Hong Kong), particularly with the threat from Vinexpo launching its own show a few weeks before ProWine, also in Shanghai next autumn.

Mingers has worked as a senior project manager in the ProWein team from 2011 to 2015. Since then, he worked on the Energy Storage conference and fair. Mingers will report directly to Messe Düsseldorf executive director, Michael Degen.

The company has also announced a new south entrance to ProWein, which will adjoin hall one. It is scheduled to open in the autumn.
