Lanson Champagne to launch organic range at Wimbledon

24 April, 2017

Champagne Lanson is set to launch an organic champagne at the Wimbledon tennis championships in July.

The eight hectares of organic vineyards in Verneuil, north France will create 70,000 bottles of Lanson Green Label making it the largest champagne producer to launch an organic range.

Paul Beavis, managing director UK & international, said: "Our organic champagne is being made in the Lanson style, which means that the base wine will not undergo malolactic fermentation.

“Hence the decision to age the Green Label for more than three years on its lees in the Lanson cellars – the long maturation period offsets the high level of malic acid in the champagne."

Champagne Lanson has been associated with the Wimbledon championships since 1977 and this year's tournament will begin on 3 July.

"What a fitting tribute to help us celebrate our 40th-associated relationship with the club,” Beavis added.
