Bacardi buys Leblon

08 July, 2015

Bacardi has completed the acquisition of Leblon cachaça, having owned a share of the brand for several years.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Leblon is one of the few global cachaça brands, operating in 35 countries including Brazil, the US,  Canada and select markets in Europe, Asia and in the Caribbean.

Leblon rose to fame when its ‘Legalise Cachaça ’ campaign helped to see the Brazilian sugarcane spirit recognised as a category in the US.

Leblon’s team will continue to be led by founder Steve Luttmann.
