Producers from across the Rioja region will be invited to pour their wines at the event, while a set of “focus tables” will showcase themes from the region, as well as wines selected specifically to appeal to different sectors of the trade. The tasting is to take place on October 9 at OXO2 in the OXO Tower and the generic body hopes the tasting will become an annual fixture.
Wines of Rioja hopes to attract more than 40 wineries.
Ricardo Aguiriano, marketing director at the Consejo Regulador DOCa Rioja said: “The UK remains of paramount importance to the Rioja region, and our strong UK marketing campaign has undoubtedly helped us develop and grow our market share over the last six years. We are excited to present such a diversity of wines to the UK trade at the generic tasting this year."
