Absolut launches new açaí flavour

02 February, 2010

Absolut has launched a new flavour. Absolut Berri Açaí is vodka with açaí, blueberry and pomegranate.

Açaí grows on palm trees in South America, blueberries are mainly native to North America and Europe, and pomegranate is from Southwest Asia. Absolut Berri Açaí will be available from February 2010, at bars, restaurants and retailers in the United States.

Laura Stephen, global marketing director Absolut flavors and extensions, at The Absolut Company said: “We have combined the smoothness of açaí with fresh pomegranate and blueberry notes, to create a new, modern flavor. Absolut Berri Açaí has en elegant, focused berry aroma, a pure, vital and slightly juicy taste, and a smooth, crisp and berry finish. It is the perfect spirit for mixing, as its subtle fruit and flower notes add an elegant and refreshing tone to any cocktail.”

Absolut first started introducing flavours in the 80’s with Absolut Peppar in 1986 and Absolut Citron in 1988. Now, Absolut carries a line of twelve different flavours in addition to the original Absolut vodka.

The new flavor comes in a transparent bottle with a deep-purple berry vine climbing around it.

The product will be available in 75 cl, 1.0 l and 50 ml bottles. The introduction in other markets will be communicated at the time for the launch in each market.

Talking the challenges of cocktail weeks

Having recently returned from the US visiting both Oakland and Arizona Cocktail Weeks I was amazed by the differences in approach. In Oakland there was a much bigger trade focus and it felt more relaxed, whereas in Arizona it was one massive party for consumers.
