Dwayne Johnson to launch Teremana Tequila

31 October, 2019

Actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has announced plans for the production of his own tequila brand called Teremana Tequila due to be launched in the first quarter of 2020.

Johnson, who made his name in wrestling before a successful acting career, made the announcement via Instagram on Wednesday 30 October stating that it will be a “small batch” tequila.

“Our goal is to create a tequila that is the best of quality and taste, but done the right way - by hand,” said Johnson. “Small batch, hand crafted tequila from our Teremana blue agave, maturing in the highlands of Jalisco, for everyone to enjoy.”

According to Johnson, ‘Teremana’ is roughly translated as ‘spirit of the earth’ and his announcement went out to his 160m followers on Instagram worldwide.

The Rock used the hashtag #Q12020 which suggests the product will be available from the start of next year and he is the second major Hollywood celebrity to launch a tequila brand, following George Clooney’s Casamigo which was bought by Diageo in 2018.
