Hennessy profits from US and China interest

29 January, 2018

Moet Hennessy has reported a significant increase in 2017 sales figures as it confirmed Cognac's high demand in the US and China.

Moet Hennessy's organic sales in the calendar year increased +7%, with equal growth for both its wines and spirits units.

According to Moet Hennessy, its volume growth for its cognac brands accounted for +8% due to a revival in demand in China.

Following the effects of the Chinese government's crackdown on luxury spending, the market in China for Moet Hennessy has reignited, saying in its market report: "recovery in China is now reconfirmed for all Hennessy products".

Champagne brand Moët & Chandon also recorded another record-breaking year, with volumes increasing +4% for 2017.

Again, the demand for the brand remains high in the US and China, with operating profits for wines and spirits at €1.56bn, up +4% compared to 2016.
