Cointreau Noir was driven by Cointreau’s master distiller of 30 years, Bernadette Langlais.
Langlais was inspired by Majestic, a spirit originally formulated by Édouard Cointreau in the 1900s, whilst exploring Cointreau’s archives. Its latest interpretation is a blend of Cointreau orange liqueur and Fine Champagne cognac. To ‘enrich’ the original recipe, Langlais macerated it with walnuts and almonds.
Cointreau Noir will be unveiled at a tasting held by Alfred Cointreau at Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair on 9 October.
Cointreau said: “I’m delighted to be involved with London Cocktail Week 2014. The London cocktail scene has been gaining momentum over the last few years, with ever increasing standards and numbers of knowledgeable customers, the city presents an exciting and important part of the Cointreau story.”
Cointreau Noir will initially only be available at Mr Fogg's.
