Californian wine sales equalled 285m cases in 2016 with US sales and exports reaching a retail value of $34.1bn, according to Wine Institute.

The California Wine Institute has moved to allay fears that it is withdrawing support from the UK market, following the announcement that it is to close this regional office.

It has been announced that the UK office of the Wine Institute of California in London, is closing.

US wine exports, 90% from California, reached a record high $1.55 billion in winery revenues in 2013, up 16.4% compared to the previous year, according to the Wine Institute of California.

The US West Coast wine regions of California, Oregon and Washington State are to collaborate in 2014 for their UK annual tastings.
