Funkin Innovation Champion 2019 opens for entries

08 July, 2019

Entries for the Funkin Cocktails bartending competition, Funkin Innovation Champion, are now open and this year the theme for entrants is the 1990s.

Crucible director, Stuart Bale, along with his team of experts will lead the session, enabling finalists to learn, experiment and challenge themselves to create outstanding cocktails.

To enter, bartenders must create an original Funkin cocktail with a 1990s theme and the final will be held on 10 September, where participants will receive a day-long creative session at Crucible in London.

“The Funkin Innovation Champion competition is looking for bartenders who can truly shake up the ordinary,” said Ben Anderson, Funkin Cocktails marketing director. “Funkin has brought innovation to the cocktail industry for 20 years and this year we are asking our competitors to celebrate the 1990s, a decade famous for fun.”

The entered cocktail should be easy to replicate and must feature at least 25ml of a Funkin Pro Purée as well as a Funkin Pro Cocktail Syrup. For a list of available products, bartenders can visit funkincocktails.co.uk.

The winning bartender will receive £1,000 cash, a one year, part-time contract with Funkin Cocktails and an all-expenses paid trip to Bar Convent Berlin.

“Becoming Funkin Innovation Champion gave me the opportunity to grow and develop as a bartender and make some great contacts in the industry,” said Shaun Hall, Funkin Innovation Champion 2018. “I’ve collaborated with the company, travelled and helped develop new ideas and serves. The final was a fantastic experience and I’d urge all bartenders to enter the competition.”

To enter the Funkin Innovation Champion 2019, please visit funkincocktails.co.uk and remember that the deadline is 31 July.
