Diageo launches whisky matcher app

15 December, 2016

Diageo and the team behind malts.com have launched Whisky Matcher, an app to 'discover and explore single malt scotch whisky'.

Accessed via Facebook messenger, the Whisky Matcher uses new chat bot technology allowing users to ask a series of questions in real-time that lead them to a single malt, based on personal flavour preferences.

Sam Maguire, Diageo’s innovation marketing manager- futures said: “Scotch is all about flavour. No other spirit offers the same breadth and depth of flavours as scotch and certainly no other liquid is as versatile. We know there is a perfect Scotch out there for everyone; whatever the occasion. The technology used to build Whisky Matcher makes it easy to find the perfect Diageo scotch for you."

The Whisky Matcher uses artificial intelligence to discover the customer’s preferences. If the user is partial to peaty, rich whisky, the person may be directed to Talisker 10 for its briny character or Islay single malt Lagavulin 16 Year Old, for its signature smoke. If the user is new to whisky, then choices suitable for their palette will be offered such as Glenkinchie 12 Year Old.

Whisky Matcher is available now. Visit The Friends of the Classics Malts on Facebook and click the Message button for more details.
