Sichel results

23 January, 2013

Bordeaux-based producer and négociant, Maison Sichel has reported that 2012 was the company’s second best year since it was established in 1883.

The company said growth was up 21% in value on 2011. The strongest market was still Europe, with the US and Canada performing well as did Asia, especially China.

“Given the state of the global economy, our results for 2012 were very positive. We have been working to maintain our strengths in all markets around the world, not just responding to growth opportunities in countries like China, which still remains a complex market to do business in, despite demand”, said export director, Charles Sichel and one of the five brothers who run the family company.

Wines which performed particularly well in 2012 were Château Trillol, the company’s property in the Languedoc Roussillon (which gained France’s highest accolade for food and drink, the Prix d’Excellence 2013 awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture) Sichel’s Bordeaux Supérieur estate, Château Argadens, and its flagship brand, Sirius, whose sales increased by 11.2%, its best markets being Japan and Canada.

Maison Sichel exports more that 75% of its wines.
