This is a category which has fallen out of favour with consumers but found its place in bartenders’ repertoires.

Sherry is a category for the trade. Bartenders love it, consumers barely know it, but sherry still has an important part to play behind the bar in 2024. From classics such as the Sherry Cobbler to use in contemporary twists, the many styles of sherry are utilised in very different ways by bartenders.

Tío Pepe, a fino style owned by Gonzalez Byass, is by far the bestselling sherry brand within our ranking. Of the 92 bars which stock a sherry, Tío Pepe was the number one choice in almost half and it featured as a top-three bestseller in 99%, making it almost unanimously loved. Given the significance of the brand, we separate it from the rest of the Gonzalez Byass portfolio, which carries the namesake branding and which finished third in the bestselling list.

Lustau, which has a diverse and complete portfolio of styles, retained its runner-up spot in 2024, having been the bestselling brand in almost 30% of the bars in our poll. Outside the top three competition is tight, with just a handful of votes separating the remaining seven brands.

How we did it

The Annual Brands Report results are the culmination of a survey of 100 bars from around the world which have been nominated or won international awards. The report offers a picture of the buying habits of the world’s best bars – not only which brands sell best, but also what’s trending to indicate the brands that are hot right now.
