Murviedro Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay 2018

Murviedro launches Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay 2018

15 November, 2019

Spanish winery Murviedro has released Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay 2018, made from grapes of a single plot in the municipality of Venta del Moro, with D.O. Utiel Requena.

The vineyard is situated on a chalky plateau with positive wine-growing potential. It is characterised by the overlapping of limestone horizons, red clay loams and fine sandstone formed in the tertiary period.

The continental climate, tempered by the influence of the Mediterranean Sea, also adds to the characteristics of the aged white wine.

Vallejo Avenas Chardonnay 2018 (14.5% abv) is aged for six months in 500-litre French oak barrels with fine lees and the vines used in production were planted in 2002.

Since it is a white wine for ageing, resting in the bottle refines the wine so that it may be enjoyed during the following years, thanks to its low pH and natural acidity.

There were 8,753 bottles produced and the wine has a pH reading of 3.21.
