Exclusive: Scout bar to relocate to Hackney

28 August, 2018

London-based bar Scout, founded by bartender and consultant Matt Whiley, will be relocating from its Great Eastern Street location in Shoreditch this September and will re-open at a new site in Hackney.

The ground floor bar will replicate Scout, whilst the basement will see the launch of a second venue Gold Tooth, which will be a showcase of Whiley’s kegged cocktail company.

Whiley said: “Great Eastern Street has been great for Scout, and it will always be a part of the bar’s story, however the relocation to Hackney allows us to enhance and better our offering even more with a larger space and a fully equipped kitchen.”

The aesthetic and focus of Scout will remain the same with sustainability and seasonal produce from the British Isles still in focus while 12 of the current cocktails on the menu will be transferred over and the drinks list will still include beers and wines.

The new venue on Graham Road will have a larger capacity with 40 covers, and it will also have a kitchen to expand its food menu.

A former pastry chef from the two Michelin star Hélène Darroze at The Connaught will be joining the team at Scout, which was awarded Bar Food Menu of the Year at the CLASS Bar Awards 2018.

Gold Tooth will open in the basement underneath Scout, which will be a showcase of Whiley’s kegged cocktail company with four cocktails on tap, alongside beer and wine.

The bar will also have a focus on art, showcasing London-based artist The Rugman’s illustrative artworks. On the first Thursday of every month the bar will host gallery evenings on an ongoing basis.

Scout on Great Eastern Street will be closed from Saturday 25 August and the new site in Hackney will be open from Tuesday 11 September.
