Ron Burgundy Scotch to drop anchor

02 December, 2013

Paramount Film Company has announced the launch of Ron Burgundy Scotch Whisky to the UK, US and Canada.

The release coincides with the Hollywood company’s premier of Anchorman 2 this December, the main character of which is Ron Burgundy.

The Will Ferrell character is said to be a keen Scotch drinker, and according to the filmmakers, the Ron Burgundy Scotch brand will be prominent throughout the new movie.

Ron Burgundy Scotch is a blended whisky of 40% abv and is produced by Old St Andrews spirits company.

In the UK the brand will carry an RRP of £17.50-£18.00 and will initially have an off-trade focus. Ireland and Australia are also likely destinations for the whisky.

Christopher Tavener of Taverner & Associates UK – which represents the whisky brand – said: “The objective is to build a brand, but that will depend on its support and the continuity of the film.”
