Diageo director is new head of Carlsberg UK

Former Diageo northern Europe managing director Benet Slay has become to the chief executive of Carlsberg UK.

Slay is to join Carlsberg UK on March 1.

Jesper Friis, senior vice president for Carlsberg Western Europe, who has been acting as interim CEO for Carlsberg UK, said: "We are really pleased that Benet is joining us. He has an extensive knowledge of our industry; a deep-rooted understanding of both on- and off-trade dynamics; has an excellent track record in delivering customer- and consumer-led strategies; and has launched many successful innovations.

“He is also passionate about managing and motivating people and has been personally involved in a series of important responsibility initiatives on behalf of Drinkaware, Portman Group and the British Beer and Pub Association."

Slay is one of the founding trustees of the Drinkaware Trust.

Former Carlsberg UK CEO Isaac Sheps is now the CEO for Baltika Breweries with regional responsibility for Carlsberg’s operations across eastern Europe.
