Brewer SABMiller has reported good underlying sales for the second quarter, a day after AB InBev agreed a £17bn merger

Anheuser-Busch InBev has agreed the terms of its £71bn takeover of SABMiller.

Diageo has topped the Beverage sector of Management Today magazine’s annual Britain’s Most Admired Companies awards. 

SABMiller is to launch a second cassava beer in Africa. Eagle will launch in Ghana and it will be brewed by SABMiller’s local subsidiary, Accra Brewery.

China Resources Snow Breweries - a joint venture between SAB Miller and China Resources Enterprise - is to buy Kingway Brewery’s brewing facilities for a total cash consideration of RMB 5.38bn (US$864m).

SAB Miller has announced a number of directorate and senior management changes that will become effective from the company’s annual general meeting on July 26, 2012.

Turkey: SAB Miller, Anadolu Group and Anadolu Efes have completed the transfer of SAB Miller's Russian and Ukrainian beer businesses in the context of their strategic alliance for Turkey, Russia, the CIS, Central Asia and the Middle East, which was originally announced on October 19, 2011.

SAB Miller's Australian subsidiary, Foster's Group will no longer be allowed to import and distribute Mexican beer Corona Extra. Foster's has been informed by Corona's parent company Grupo Modelo that it intends to terminate Foster's licence to import and distribute Corona Extra in Australia with immediate effect. The brand's distribution will go to Lion Nathan. 

SAB Miller’s group chief brewer is to retire. Professor Barry Axcell will step down at the end of July 2012.

Global brewer SAB Miller has launched a web-based campaign to help parents discuss alcohol with their children.
