UK: Children as young as 10 are more familiar with some leading alcohol brands and adverts than those for popular foods and snacks, according to a new report by Alcohol Concern.

The major Rioja producer, Marqués de Riscal, has held a charity auction in Beijing of 100 vintages dating from 1862 to 2005.

UK charities Alcohol Concern and the Children’s Society have called for “mandatory social work training” on the issues surrounding parental alcohol misuse.

UK: Alcohol awareness charity Drinkaware has found that more than half (53%) of parents who plan to provide their 16 and 17 year olds with alcohol for a week long summer holiday with friends will give them five or more bottles of spirits or wine.

Global brewer SAB Miller has launched a web-based campaign to help parents discuss alcohol with their children.
