Amstel trains focus on China

Heineken has unveiled plans to make Amstel one of the bestselling beer brands in the Chinese market.

So, Danish brewer is spending £15m on revitalising its flagship Carlsberg Export brand (see news story) and at the core of activity is emphasising the company’s Danish origins.

Meantime, the craft brewer, has linked with the iconic folding bicycle maker, Brompton, to launch a new limited edition lager.

SABMiller, one of the world’s largest beers, has reported group revenue up 1% to US$34 million and profits before tax $4.8m, up 3% for the year ending March 31.

Brooklyn Brewery, New York’s craft beer company, has launched Brooklyn Lager and East India Pale Ale in India.

Talking the challenges of cocktail weeks

Having recently returned from the US visiting both Oakland and Arizona Cocktail Weeks I was amazed by the differences in approach. In Oakland there was a much bigger trade focus and it felt more relaxed, whereas in Arizona it was one massive party for consumers.
