Napa winery and distillery Charbay has introduced a line of wine-based aperitifs in time for the holidays.  A green tea aperitif and a pomegranate aperitif are set for national distribution for openers.

Susan Karakasevic, a spokesperson for the family-owned winery, said the ready-to-serve drinks were aimed at restaurants that do not have a licence to sell spirits but wanted to offer a cocktail to customers.

“It’s a way for them to catch the cocktail trend,” she said.

She added that the new aperitifs, with 21 per cent alcohol content,  can be served on the rocks or shaken and served straight up with a twist.

“We had a soft launch earlier this year at the winery, and customers loved them.”
