16 March, 2017

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has announced that Tom King will be its new managing director Europe, effective immediately.

This follows the recent sudden death of Dan Townsend who passed away in Napa Valley, California while on business, due to natural causes.

King has held a number of senior leadership positions at TWE since joining the business in 2013 as commercial director for global travel retail. In 2015 he assumed responsibility for TWE’s central and eastern Europe business, and most recently has led both the global travel retail and on premise channels for the company.

With more than a decade of experience in the wine and spirits industry, King previously worked in senior roles at Bacardi. Prior to this he worked for more than five years at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen in London.

TWE CEO, Michael Clarke said: “Tom is an experienced senior sales executive and over the last four years has positioned TWE as a category leader in the global travel retail channel. Tom’s strength is building strong relationships across a wide spectrum of customers as well as developing high performing teams. This appointment will ensure that our team in Europe will have continued stability and strong senior leadership.”

TWE also announced that Barry Galloway, currently director global customers – on premise, will also lead the global travel retail business effective immediately. Galloway will be based in Hong Kong to drive stronger customer partnerships in the growing Asia-Pacific region for TWE.

Galloway has more than15 years’ experience in the drinks industry and in sales management globally, including seven years with TWE in Australia, China and Hong Kong.
