US: Beam appoints new whiskey boss

Beam Global Spirits & Wine has appointed a new vice president of global whiskey.

The premium spirits business of Fortune Brands has appointed Byron Hoover to the role, effective February 1.

Hoover will lead the global whiskey team and head up the growth strategy for Beam Global’s  bourbon and whiskey portfolio, including Jim Beam Bourbon, Canadian Club Canadian Whisky and Teacher's Scotch Whisky.

Kevin George, global chief marketing officer said: “We are excited to welcome Byron to the Beam Global team.

“Byron understands global markets and brings with him extensive brand building and innovation experience. He and will be an asset to Beam Global as we continue to expand our whiskey portfolio internationally.”

Hoover joins Beam Global from Arnell, a specialist advertising and design agency, where he was vice president of client services. Prior to Arnell Group, Hoover was the chief marketing officer of Jose Cuervo International, where he held various senior marketing positions. Hoover also has held various senior marketing positions with The Walt Disney Company in France and with Procter & Gamble in Germany and Belgium.
