Geodis to expand UK operation

28 October, 2009

The French-based global logistics provider has announced plans for a major investment in its UK operation.

Geodis, the French-based worldwide distributor, has announced a major investment in its UK operation including the launch of Geodis Wine Logistics (GWL) and a strategic alliance with national parcels network, APC Overnight.

GWL is aimed at providing logistics to everyone in the wine sector from growers to retailers. Geodis operates in 120 countries and claims to have long term relationships with Pernod Ricard, Moët & Chandon, Mumm, Laurent Perrier, Tattinger, Verve Clicquot and Bacardi. In the UK it supplies Oddbins, Direct Wines and Adnams.

The UK Operation, Geodis Calberson, is to expand to have regional sales offices in the Channel port of Dover and in South Wales.

The alliance with APC means the company can offer a total service from parcels to pallets in the UK and mainland Europe.

Geodis Calberson currently operates 35 double deck box trailers. The parent company intends to replace 10 trailers in the next few months and five more next year. Five tractor units are about to be replaced and five more in 2010.
