La Martiniquaise finalises QFS deal

29 February, 2012

French spirits group La Martiniquaise has finalised negotiations to take over Quartier Français Spiritueux. The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. La Martiniquaise first announced their intention to acquire the company in early 2011.

La Martiniquaise referred to the deal as "a major acquisition", which will give the group "a leading position" on alcohol-free drinks with French brands d’Artigny, Blancart, Palermo, Venezzio and Mister Cocktail.

The deal also includes the acquisition of a distillery - Riviere du Mat in Reunion Island. The company said this "will strengthen its position on the rum market and further secure supply".

French brands La Mauny, Trois Rivières and Charrette will be sold according to the decision of the French Competition Authority.

La Martiniquaise's portfolio includes Poliakov vodka and Label 5 whisky.
