ABInBev announces London brewery closure

Anheuseur-Busch InBev has confirmed proposals to close the Anheuser-Busch owned Stag Brewery in Mortlake, west London, next year.

Anheuseur-Busch InBev has confirmed proposals to close the Anheuser-Busch owned Stag Brewery in Mortlake, west London, next year.

The 600 year old site currently brews Budweiser, Bud Ice and Michelob and employs 182 workers.

Although the brewery no longer produces real ale, the Campaign for Real Ale declared the decision a “sad day” for the industry.

The decision follows InBev’s $52 billion takeover of Anheuser-Busch, announced at the end of 2008.

In a statement, the company said: "This announcement is not a reflection on the quality of our employees, who will be an integral part of this process and will be treated with respect throughout."
