Emporia Brands’ Ron Prohibido- ‘The Forbidden Rum’- launched in the UK for the first time at Imbibe Live yesterday.

Made in a traditional 12 year old solera, the Mexican rum was once shipped to Spain in the 17th century and later banned by King Felipe V.

Traditionally drunk straight, the brand has worked with bartenders in Edinburgh and Manchester to build ‘new and exciting taste profiles’.

James Rackham, chairman of the UK importers Emporia Brands, said: “We are expecting Ron Prohibido to be available soon in many top cocktail bars as well as leading wine and spirit specialist retailers and in the high street.”

Ron Prohibido is available online at Drinksfinder.co.uk for an introductory price of £24.50.
