Irish Distillers launches Jameson Black Barrel

31 October, 2011

Irish Distillers launched the latest expression of its leading Irish whiskey brand, Jameson, in a 'softly softly' roll out in Brooklyn last night.

Jameson Black Barrel is described as "rich in pot still whiskey and rare small batch grain whiskey, matured in flame-charred black barrels for a rich and luxurious taste".

The new expression from the Pernod Ricard division was unveiled at the Woods bar in 4th Street, Brooklyn last night.

Paul Duffy CEO of Pernod Ricard USA told a room heaving with interested New Yorkers that Jameson had started in the US in Brooklyn so it was only right that the new Black Barrel be unveiled here.

He said stocks of the "new liquid" were low, so distribution of Black Barrel will be "very restricted".

The new whiskey is expected to retail for $35 for a 75cl bottle.
