Patrón Perfectionists win is "new era" for champ

31 January, 2019

The 2018 Patrón Perfectionists global champion Yeray Monforte, of Barcelona’s Dr Stravinsky, said winning the competition is a ”new era” for him as a bartender.

After winning the Spain finals of Patrón Perfectionists, Monforte travelled to Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico in January 2019 to compete in the global finals where he won with his cocktail called Wind.

“I believe my cocktail is going to be popular because it is easy to make around the world with accessible ingredients and it is not technically difficult to reproduce,” said Monforte.

The competition covered six continents and 17 countries and the bartenders were tasked with creating a Patrón cocktail that reflects ‘the passion, precision and care’ of Patrón.

Monforte added: “It was my first time in Mexico and it was such a crazy, amazing place. The whole competition was truly unique and I’m excited for the year ahead.

“I believe it’s a new era for me in bartending. I’ve been in the top 10 for Spain in World Class before but Patrón Perfectionists is a huge deal for me.”

Monforte will now be given the opportunity to guest bartend around the world and represent the brand at a variety of events.
