World’s Most Admired Wine Brands Awards at Prowein 2019

23 October, 2018

Drinks International’s The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands survey will be hosting the inaugural Awards party during the week of Prowein in Dusseldorf.

The results of the 2019 survey, will be announced at a special awards evening at the five-star Steigenberger Park Hotel in central Düsseldorf. The invitation-only event takes place on Sunday March 17, at 18.30

The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands aims to provide a definitive list of the world’s best wine brands, voted for by global industry experts.  Returning for its eighth year, the list has become the most anticipated release for wine producers with the launch of the awards party in March expected to be a highlight of the wine industry calendar.

The DI team has been bolstered by the expertise of well-known specialist wine market research and consultancy firm, Wine Intelligence to help conduct the 2019 survey.

Founded in 2001 by Brian Howard, Lulie and Richard Halstead, WI carries out market research using its two platforms Vinitrac and The Wine Profiler. It also consults on: brand positioning, business/export strategy, opportunity analysis, routes to market and mergers and acquisitions.

The Admired list is compiled by votes from an academy of more than 200 from some of the most renowned names in the wine industry to determine the top 50 final rankings.

Previous winners include: Torres, Concha y Toro and Treasury Wine Estate’s Penfolds brand.

Drinks International editor, Christian Davis, said: “Now is the right time for to take the next steps for this fantastic global survey. The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands, along with The World’s Most Admired Champagne Brands, are well established and well respected. The move to formalise into an event, announce the results and celebrate the success of this fantastic industry is extremely significant and where better to do this than the opening day of ProWein.”

Wine Intelligence’s chief operating officer, Richard Halstead said: “Wine Intelligence is delighted to be supporting the Drinks International Most Admired Wine Brands Awards this year. We believe that our experience in running robust, confidential surveys and voting systems among the world’s leading figures in the wine industry aligns well with the process that has been established, and we look forward to working with the team at Drinks International.”

DI publisher Justin Smith said: “We are delighted to be producing the awards ceremony in Dusseldorf next year. In addition to the Number 1 brand in the world, regional trophy presentations will be made to the highest ranked wine brand in Europe, North America, South America, Australasia and Africa & the Middle East. We look forward to welcoming the top 50 wine brands to the event as we countdown the most admired wine brands on the planet.”
