The Glendalough Distillery, which claims to be Ireland’s first craft distillery, has launched the latest addition to its range of seasonal gins, the Wild Autumn Botanical (41% abv).

Four times a year it produces a new addition to the range using botanicals foraged locally. Each expression is never more than 2,000 bottles.

To make this gin, Glendalough uses six botanicals and, in addition, forages locally in the Wicklow mountains for what is growing wild seasonally. The company says its aim is to recapture “Ireland’s lost heritage of great spirit production and create new, exciting and contemporary brands built around these values”.

Glendalough claims to be the first and only distillery to produce an Irish seasonal gin, picking and distilling the next day.

The botanicals used in this expression include juniper, coriander, fresh lemon peel, angelica root, bitter almond, orris root, darred malt, nettle watermint and clover flowers.
