American whisky facing rosy future

22 December, 2014

American whisky’s projected 5% CAGR will see the category exceed 45m cases by 2018, providing it can keep up with demand, according to IWSR.

The category has been buoyed by innovation and global consumption of US whiskey grew 6.6% in 2013, an acceleration of the five-year trend, with volumes reaching 36m cases, the data company said.

The domestic market, the US, accounts for 67% of global volumes which is growing well thanks to flavour innovation and premiumisation but the trend to American whisky is evident globally.

Germany is the world’s second largest market at around 2m cases, while the UK, Japan, France and Poland are also showing rapid rates of expansion, IWSR said.

Hazel: The second release from Sylva

As the name suggests, we’ve used hazel wood as the hero of this edition alongside other familiar, native broadleaf trees, including silver birch and oak from our own forest.
