Humphery takes UK place in Monin Cocktail Cup

15 October, 2012

Monin has selected William Humphery as the UK representative of its global Cocktail Cup in Paris.

Humphery of Hausbar cocktail bar in Bristol won a place in the 30-bartender final on December 10, after winning the under 27 age category at the UK final.

Susie Wong from the Epernay Champagne Bar in Manchester, won the over 27 age bracket and will also travel to Paris, but Humphery was the bartender chosen to compete.

The UK final, which took place at Paramount in London during London Cocktail Week, saw 10 finalists compete in the under 27 category and six in the over 27 category.

Humphery’s winning cocktails were Olivier’s Rose, which featured Monin Bubble Gum syrup, and the non-alcoholic, One for the Monin, which included Monin Banana puree and Monin Orgeat syrup.

Susie Wong’s Crème De La Crème featured Monin Butterscotch syrup and her ‘mocktail’ was called Kiwi Au Pear, which included Monin Kiwi puree.

All the finalists – selected at heats held during Monin workshops staged in 11 British cities earlier in the year – had their drinks judged by panelists that included: Stephan Moesle, beverage innovation director, Monin for Western Europe and the Mediterranean; Louise Corbin of website Bar Chick; and Andy Ives from Bar Life UK.
