Louis XIII Cognac has launched Black Pearl: Tribute to the Birthplace of Louis XIII, a new limited edition presented in a 13°C cooling box.

The cognac is part of the brand’s Black Pearl collection and is designed to mimic the condistions of its Le Grollet cellar.

Cellar master Baptiste Loiseau then infused the eau-de-vie in a single tierçon from Le Grollet creating a singular blend, limited to 398 decanters worldwide.

During the launch at London’s Orrery restaurant, Loiseau said: “The idea is to replicate a sensation and tasting that can only take place in a specific cellar, that we call ‘The Wedding Cellar’. I went back to all the oldest eau-de-vie that I was tasting during my apprenticeship in the demijohns, which were showing these facets of raw authenticity. I decided to craft this blend from the classical blend which has been enriched with one eau-de-vie from one demijohn, giving the footprint of the cellar.”

In the UK, the release is available at The Dorchester, The St. Regis, Grantley Hall and A. Wong, as well as the Louis XIII Boutique at Harrods, priced at £21,000.
