Ron Matusalem has unveiled the release of Sublime Kiku in Tokyo, one of its most exclusive rum expressions to date. 

Japan represents the final stage of the ageing journey which brings together influences from Spain, the Americas, France and Japan.

Presented during an exclusive private event at Sefino, at the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo on 23 June, Sublime Kiku is the second release in the Sublime Collection: A Journey Through Traditions.

Sublime Kiku features a combination of American oak ex-Bourbon barrels aged in a 20-year-old solera system and Spanish ex-Sherry casks used for 10-year static ageing.

The second stage takes place in France, where the rum spends more than two years in French oak casks that previously held Premier Grand Cru Bordeaux wine.

The final stage is in Japan, where the rum sits in casks that once contained Junmai sake. 

Limited to just 600 individually numbered crystal decanters worldwide, each piece is created and numbered by the Portuguese crystal house Vista Alegre.

Each decanter is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and an exclusive artwork by Japanese artist Mari Ito.
