Adnams launches high-strength gin designed for low alcohol serves

05 January, 2022

Suffolk-based distillery Adnams has launched a high-strength gin distilled with ten times the botanicals to give the flavour of a full serve in a 2.5ml measure.

Smidgin is cut at 50% abv and undergoes an intense redistillation process to ensure no compromise in flavour despite the minuscule serving size.

“It is a new concept for us at Adnams but one we feel is bound to be a hit,” said John McCarthy, head distiller at Adnams.

“The number of botanicals in the gin means that the quality and flavour is uncompromised in this low strength serve – something our customers are always on the lookout for.

“The trend for low/no is here to stay so we must continue to look for ways to build on quality choices for our loyal customers. As soon as the team here tried it, there was no going back for us!”

Brits are more often turning to lower-alcohol options, a recent YouGov survey on behalf of the Portman Group revealed that one in three UK drinkers now ‘often’ or ‘sometimes’ consume low and no alcohol products.

Each 200ml bottle of Smidgin contains 80 servings and comes with a 2.5ml copper spoon and is available to buy online at adnams.co.uk and in Adnams retail stores for £26 rrp.
