Worshipful Companies to debate marketing role in spirits

28 October, 2019

The Worshipful Company of Marketers and The Woshipful Company of Distillers have come together to host a debate on the modern role of marketing within the spirits industry.

The basis of the panel discussion titled: 'Alchemy - are we the alchemists of today?' is about the influence of marketors and advertising agencies on the creation and growth of global spirits brands.

The debate will take place at BMB Agency inside The Crane Building in London on 5 November, with doors opening from 6pm.

Rory Sutherland, panelist and vice chairman of Ogilvy UK, said: “Can you produce value by magic? This may seem like a relatively fanciful debate. Instead it has a bearing on many of the most important debates of our time, from environmentalism to public policy.

“Distillers and Marketors are among the last people still allowed to practice alchemy. Perhaps we need more of them.”

As well as Sutherland, the panel consists of; Mark Sandys, global head of beer, Baileys and Smirnoff at Diageo; Anthony Wilson, Alkemista brand innovation and Andrew Marsden, former master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors.

Tickets cost £25 per person and can be booked here.
