Grupo Peñaflor, Argentina’s leading wine producer and exporter, broke its bottled wine exports record in 2018 reaching 68m bottles, equalling 51m liters for a total value of US$174m.

This volume was achieved by processing approximately 66m kilograms of grapes and compared to 2017, the company’s exports increased 7.7% in volume and 13.9% in value.

These figures mean that Grupo Peñaflor reached an export market share of 29.2% and its main export wineries are Trapiche, Finca Las Moras, El Esteco, Mascota Vineyards and Navarro Correas, and the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and Germany are its main export markets, accounting for more than 90% of sales volume.

“We are very proud of having reached a new export record. It involves a combined great effort from hundreds of independent growers, our own agronomists, enologists and our marketing and sales teams, that enables our wines to reach consumers in over 100 countries”said Pablo Ghiorzi, exports director.

“The year 2018 was excellent for us in the US, the number one market for Argentine wines, where we grew by 17% in volume in spite of a very difficult context, in which the Argentine category went down by 10% versus other countries.

“We must highlight the remarkable performance of our wines Trapiche Oak Cask Argentina’s number one wine sold worldwide and Trapiche Broquel, both of which recorded a double digit growth in US, as also the consolidation of Unanime as one of the premium Argentine wines best sold in that market.

“Last year was also very positive for Finca Las Moras as well, particularly in Europe, and also for El Esteco wines from the Calchaquí valley, which continued expanding their sales both in the old continent as in Canada and Asia. As for the Navarro Correas winery, it kept growing both in Europe and in Latin America,” added Ghiorzi.
